Overstuffed po-boys, homemade gumbo, and all the hot sauce you can handle. Gindesigns is bringing The Big Easy to The Big D as Wicked Poboy moves in to Richardson. Design that’s nearly impossible to fake will take you right back to the authentic eateries of the Bywater. 

Oxheart Restaurant, Houston, TX

Chefs Justin Yu and Karen Man commissioned a space that reflects their collective desire for guests to feel like they are being welcomed into their home for an intimate dining experience. This is realized in a dining room where the hand-made furniture and lighting capture the essence of the 120 year old building in which they are housed. Soft curtains frame ceiling-high windows that look out onto vine-draped patio where a long cedar slab table holds the wine glasses of those waiting to be seated. The dining tables were hand-made with 100 year old reclaimed long leaf pine, the seats were upholstered by hand using custom fabric abstractly depicting the Oxheart logo and making use of leather remnants from the hand-worked aprons the FOH staff dons for service. All of the metal furniture was created by a local fabricator, and all reclaimed wood, non-toxic paint and finishes were supplied by New Living, a sustainable design center. Local craftsmen were utilized in the creation of the pottery, aprons, knives and finish work. The sole artwork in the space consists of watercolor-style prints made from vegetables dipped in pig's blood, which Justin Karen created themselves.
